Goulburn Girl Power
28 May 2009
We are proud to introduce the Woden Crookwell Griffins SL2 team, 2009. After 2 seasons with their local association when they had to travel to the Southern Highlands to play most weekends and facing the same again this year, they decided to approach Woden Valley to register as a team. Some of the girls had played with a Woden Valley team in 2004 & 2005 in SL3, so they knew it is a pretty good club!

The girls ages range from 15 to 32 (no names will be mentioned) and the range of experience is also vast with raw recruits this year who have never played soccer to those who have played for more years than they care to remember. Apart from 2 girls from Canberra who have just joined the team they all come from the Crookwell and Goulburn area to make a total of 18 registered players. They are a great bunch of girls who are very encouraging and positive with each other and are to be commended for their commitment to travel to Canberra each week to play the game they love. They say they are enjoying the much tougher competition this year and once they settle and play really good football, as they are capable of, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Match days includes coordinator Wendy Wallace loading up her Landcruiser with girls & gear. Those who can not squeeze in are trusted to read Wendy's email for directions (so far no one has got lost..........well maybe a little bit) A sigh of relief is breathed when everyone finds each other, then on to watch & play the game. After the game at 1pm, Wendy and the team head off to grab something to eat.........(why is Maccas everywhere!) and then its back up the Federal Highway home, ready to do it all again next week, win, lose or draw.
The team would like to thank the the supporters, parents & friends who come along to watch and cheer each week. On to the finals!
